State Support Initiatives
 At
the state level, the City has successfully lobbied the state
legislature to pass legislation allowing Atlanta to propose
a 1-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to
DeKalb and Fulton counties. The SPLOST would raise about $1
billion, and $500 million could be applied to Atlanta’s
sewer improvements program. Other grant and loan programs have
been identified.
