Ratepayer
Clean Water Atlanta will cost more than $3 billion to fully
implement. Water and sewer rates are expected to increase by
at least 10% per year through 2015. If the City's funding strategy
is successful, the cost to ratepayers would decrease substantially.
Mayor Shirley Franklin and her administration are actively pursuing
outside funding and evaluating creative financing opportunities.
Funding Strategy
Special Local Option Sales Tax |
$500 million |
Low Interest State Loans |
$500 million |
Federal Appropriations |
$1 billion |
Ratepayers |
$1+ billion |

|
Example: If your monthly water consumption is consistently
around $106.97, a 10% per year increase would have the following
impact:
2003 |
2004 |
2005 |
2006... |
2015 |
$106.97 |
$117.66 |
$129.43 |
$142.37 |
$335.72 |
Note: These projected rate increases assume
100% ratepayer funding. If the City's funding strategy is successful,
rate increases would be substantially less.
