Woodcliff Property As
the first acquisition under the City of Atlanta Greenway Acquisition
Project, this property acquisition is also one of the most notable.
The surrounding community struggled to keep
this Priority-1 status property from being developed for over two years. With the assistance
of the community and a non-profit agency, The Nature Conservancy,
the City of Atlanta was successful in acquiring this property using
multiple City funding sources (Greenway Acquisition Project funds,
Georgia Greenspace Program monies, and City of Atlanta Park Impact
Fees). The property was purchased for a total price of $1,942,844,
however only $56,719.90 of Greenway Acquisition Project monies were
used. The Woodcliff Terrace community reduced the
City of Atlanta's final purchase price by contributing funds raised
for the acquisition of this property. Shortly after the acquisition and
final preservation of this property, the City of Atlanta and the
Woodcliff Terrace community held a collaborative, on-site celebration.
