Wilson Property
The Wilson property acquisition establishes a conservation easement along 125 feet of Peachtree Creek from pollutants and sediments that wash into the creek from roads, parking lots, construction sites, homes, and businesses. However, more than 800 stream miles in the 10-county metropolitan Atlanta area violate state water quality standards, according to the Clean Water Campaign. Simple daily activities such as washing our cars in the driveway, not cleaning up after our pets, or fertilizing the yard all contribute to the water pollution problem in Atlanta. Although we are all a part of the problem, the City of Atlanta Greenway Acquisition Project gives residents the opportunity to be a part of the water quality solution.
