True Gospel Baptist Church Property
The True Gospel Baptist Church property is located among a series of other protected Greenway properties on Maxham Road in southwest Cobb County. A 100-foot conservation easement along 350 feet of Sweetwater Creek has been placed on this Priority-1 Greenway property ensuring that the vegetation contained within the easement will be protected and left undisturbed. When preserved in their natural state, floodplains can function to reduce the severity of floods through vegetation that acts to slow stormwater runoff and filter impurities that would otherwise enter the creek. The True Gospel Baptist Church property is an example of how successful coordination with property owners and their neighbors can yield connected greenways, and improved water quality results in Atlanta.
