Tedoff
Property
The Tedoff property acquisition protects approximately
810 feet of the South Fork Peachtree Creek stream bank and almost
five acres of its floodplain. Although the Tedoff property is a
substantial greenway acquisition, more than 800 miles of streams
still violate water quality standards in the 10-county metropolitan
Atlanta area, according to the Clean Water Campaign. In a region
that depends on surface water for 98 percent of its drinking water
resources, this is an alarming statistic. Ultimately, the residents
bear the burden of this pollution problem through higher treatment
costs, fishing or swimming restrictions, and loss of scenic/property
value. However, every property owner who participates in the City
of Atlanta Greenway Acquisition Project can feel confident about
improving water quality for both their neighborhood creek and Georgia's
primary drinking water supply - the Chattahoochee River.
