Saks Property
Located in a residential area in northwest Atlanta, the Saks property acquisition protects approximately 244 feet of Peachtree Creek. This Priority-1 Greenway Acquisition property will protect vegetation within a 100-foot conservation easement of the creek. In urban areas, a protected "green" buffer along rivers and streams helps to slow the flow of stormwater from adjacent roads, parking lots, and other impervious surfaces. This reduces the amount of sediment and pollution that flows into urban streams. The Saks property, along with other recent property acquisitions along Margaret Mitchell Drive and nearby Ridgemore Road, will therefore improve the water quality and health of Peachtree Creek. This acquisition is another example of how every property owner who participates in the Atlanta Greenway Acquisition project can improve Atlanta's streams.
