This greenway acquisition is comprised of a pristine
vacant lot which has never been developed. The plant life on the
property is composed of a wide variety of native species. This property
is also partially located in the floodplain. Preserving the floodplain
in an undeveloped state reduces the risk of flooding downstream.
The property is also located adjacent to the previously acquired
Lionel Hampton greenway property. Therefore, this acquisition continues
to expand the protected greenspace area around the Lionel Hampton
tract. As well as continuing to build a connected corridor along
South Utoy Creek. Having multiple protected properties that are
adjacent creates a more stable system for habitat protection. This
property is also adjacent to an existing PATH recreational trail.
