Lazarus
Property
The Lazarus property acquisition protects approximately
170 feet of the Peachtree Creek streambank and over one-half acre
of the 100-year floodplain. This property acquisition represents
a significant linkage in the protection of metropolitan Atlanta's
streams that are threatened by contaminants in stormwater runoff.
Linkages provide for uninterrupted protection of the stream bank,
and continuity of wildlife habitat. Success of the Greenway Acquisition
Project will depend on these crucial greenway linkages. By taking
a active role in watershed protection, every property owner who
participates in the Greenway Acquisition Project can feel confident
about improving water quality for both their neighborhood and ultimately
Georgia's primary drinking water supply - the Chattahoochee and
South Rivers.
