This Priority-1 acquired Greenway Property is located on Peachtree Creek in a residential area in northwest Atlanta, near several other properties protected by the Greenway Acquisition Project. This property is located in a densely developed area of the City of Atlanta. In densely developed areas, a large amount of storm water run-off flows from surrounding impervious surfaces into nearby creeks and waterways. For this reason, Peachtree Creek is especially vulnerable to pollution and sediment washing into the creek from surrounding development. Protecting properties on both sides of Peachtree Creek or continuously along the creek is also especially desirable from an ecological standpoint. A connected corridor of greenspace creates a more suitable habitat for plants and animals and as well as enhancing the water quality of the stream.
