D. Johnson Property
The Johnson property is the first acquisition along an upstream segment of Sweetwater Creek which is located in Paulding County. As with all the Metropolitan Atlanta counties, Paulding County is experiencing population growth and development. Several new subdivisions are under construction in the areas surrounding this greenway property. This acquisition represents an opportunity to begin creating a corridor of greenspace along this upstream segment of Sweetwater Creek. The corridor of greenspace will protect the creek from being adversely affected by storm water run-off carrying sediment and pollution from surrounding development. At just over 10 acres, this is a fairly large acquisition, which also protects 400 feet of stream frontage and several wetland areas.
