Hagar
Property
The acquisition of the Hagar property, located in a
residential area of northwest Atlanta, will protect approximately
2,700 feet of the stream bank along this segment of Proctor Creek.
The City of Atlanta coordinated with developers to preserve the
floodplain within the 44-acre tract. Construction activities are
a significant contributor to the persistent problem of erosion and
sedimentation in streams, although rules and regulations aim to
prevent this type of pollution. The Hagar property acquisition is
an example of how successful coordination with all property owners,
residents and developers alike, can yield beneficial results for
water quality in Atlanta.
