Haege Property
The Haege property is an entire vacant and undeveloped parcel located in a residential area on Landrum Drive. The vegetation on the property consists of a healthy and vigorous stand of tall, older hardwoods as well as lower-lying shrubs and groundcover. This acquisition continues to build connectivity of protected properties along the South Utoy Creek corridor. The acquisition of the Haege property also protects a wide floodplain. Protection of the floodplain is important to help prevent flooding downstream. The water can infiltrate into the ground more slowly, therefore preserving the ecological integrity of the system. Slow infiltration of water also helps prevent erosion and bank collapse.
