Fischer
Property
The Fischer property acquisition will protect approximately
92 feet of Peachtree Creek through the use of a conservation easement.
Conservation easements protect land from unwanted development, while
the landowner retains their rights to the property. New development
is often the source of water quality problems in Atlanta. As water
flows from nearby impervious (such as concrete and asphalt) surfaces,
a vegetated buffer in the conservation easement will help slow the
water and prevent the stream banks from washing away and collapsing.
These factors will result in improved water quality for Peachtree
Creek, and ultimately the Chattahoochee River.
