Cato Property
The Cato property acquisition is located north of a series of recently acquired parcels that will connect to form a continuous greenway corridor along Sweetwater Creek. Although this acquisition is comprised of only slightly more than an acre of property, the Cato parcel is adjacent to a major thoroughfare in Austell. As the Metropolitan Atlanta region continues to grow, the surrounding areas continue to experience development pressure. It is the hope of the project team that this greenway would provide natural filtration, and a means to dissipate stormwater flow from this major road before it enters Sweetwater Creek. Whether it provides connectivity, improved wildlife habitat or water quality, every greenway property is of critical importance to the overall mission of the City of Atlanta Greenway Acquisition Project.
