A+ Builders Property
T
he A+ Builders property acquisition was a unique opportunity for the City of Atlanta to work with a developer to preserve greenspace. The A+ Builders are constructing condominiums on the western portion of this property, and the eastern portion, adjacent to Utoy Creek, will serve as a wide vegetated floodplain and buffer to prevent sediment and pollution from flowing into Utoy Creek. This property is comprised of almost 34 acres, which is a significant acquisition. However, this acquisition also represents only part of a connected corridor which the Greenway Acquisition project will preserve along this segment of Utoy Creek. The acquisition of several large adjacent properties will provide valuable habitat for plants and animals. The Atlanta Greenway acquisition project has been extremely successful along the entire length of Utoy Creek. Since Utoy Creek is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, these acquisitions will also help to protect it.
