Family Partnership Property
The JMP Family Partnership property acquisition is
located within a series of recently acquired parcels that will connect
to form a continuous greenway corridor along Sweetwater Creek. Although
this acquisition is comprised of only slightly less than one acre
of property, the JMP parcel is entirely comprised of floodplain.
The 100-year floodplain is defined as the area that has a one percent
chance of flooding in any given year. Millions of dollars in structural
damages can result if property is developed within the floodplain.
The permanent protection of this greenway property will ensure that
development does not occur inside the 100-year floodplain. Whether
it provides connectivity, improved wildlife habitat or floodplain
protection, every greenway property has its own unique features
to contribute to the City of Atlanta Greenway Acquisition Project.
