Stream Clean-Up
The CSO Consent Decree included two Supplemental Environmental
Projects – the Stream Cleanup and Greenway
Acquisition projects.
Metro Atlanta Stream Cleanup
The Metro Atlanta Stream Cleanup Project involved a one-time,
one-year cleanup of streams that receive CSO, to remove
trash and debris 2 inches or greater from the banks and
streambeds. The City spent nearly $6 million to remove approximately
600 tons of tires, scrap metal and trash from Tanyard, Proctor,
Clear, Utoy and Intrenchment Creeks, and the branch of the
South River into which the McDaniel Street CSO facility
discharges. These stream segments covered a total distance
of 36.9 miles.
