Operation Clean Sewer is the City's plan to reduce sewer spills
associated with blockages from debris, grease and stormwater infiltration.
Operation Clean Sewer will reduce sewer spills through implementation
of the following parameters:
- Inspect 15% of the total system per year (215 miles of sewer
per year) to identify problems
- Clean 25% of the system per year (32 miles of sewer per month
= 384 miles per year) to remove debris and grease
- Reline 2.5 miles of sewer per month (30 miles per year = 2%
of the system)
- Fully implement a grease management plan with restaurants and
other food service institutions, including issuing grease trap
permits and performing regular inspections
